The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has announced the scheduling of the 2025/2026 SIWES Programme for GET 299 and GET 399 students.

The announcement was contained in an internal memo dated September 25, 2026, addressed to all Departmental SIWES Coordinators within the school.

What the Memo Says

According to the memo, the SIWES programme for GET 299 and GET 399, covering 200 Level and 300 Level students respectively, has been scheduled to commence from Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

This means affected students within the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology are expected to begin their Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) placements from that date, as part of the requirements for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Coordinators Directed to Prepare

In view of the scheduled commencement, Departmental SIWES Coordinators, in collaboration with their respective Heads of Department (HODs), have been directed to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place for a smooth and successful exercise.

The memo emphasized that full cooperation and prompt action from coordinators and departmental heads are required to guarantee the overall success of the programme.

What Affected Students Should Note

Students in GET 299 (200 Level) and GET 399 (300 Level) categories within SEET are advised to:

  • Take note of the Wednesday, September 30, 2026 commencement date for the SIWES programme.
  • Liaise with their respective Departmental SIWES Coordinators for further guidance on placement and requirements.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and preparations are completed ahead of the scheduled start date.
