The development comes as a relief to FUTO beneficiaries who had been left waiting while students at other institutions, including FUTMINNA, Osun State Polytechnic and Rivers State University, began receiving their August allowance earlier in the week.

FUTO Named in Latest Payment Alert

A bank credit alert shared on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 09:24 shows a ₦20,000 credit processed through UBN Head Office, with a transaction description referencing "NELFUND UPKEEP" and identifying the beneficiary's institution as Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

The transaction was recorded as part of Batch 3 of the ongoing disbursement exercise, indicating that FUTO beneficiaries are now being processed within the wider NELFUND payment cycle.

The Wait Is Over, For Now

As reported earlier in the week, FUTO students had not received confirmed August upkeep credits even as beneficiaries elsewhere began sharing alerts. NELFUND's disbursement has consistently moved in batches, meaning payments are not received by all eligible students at the same time.

With this latest alert, FUTO now joins the list of institutions whose students are confirmed to be receiving the August allowance, though it remains unclear how many FUTO beneficiaries have been paid so far.

Not Everyone Paid Yet

Beneficiaries are reminded that one confirmed alert does not mean every eligible FUTO student has been paid. NELFUND's upkeep disbursement continues to move through multiple batches, and students still waiting are advised to remain patient rather than assume they have been excluded.

  • Avoid relying solely on screenshots circulating on social media as confirmation of personal payment.

The NELFUND upkeep allowance remains fixed at ₦20,000 per month for eligible beneficiaries, separate from the institutional-fee component of the student loan. As of early September, NELFUND had disbursed over ₦355 billion since the launch of its loan portal, including more than ₦162 billion in upkeep payments alone.
