Supplementary admission candidates of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have begun reporting changes on their JAMB CAPS profiles, with some seeing admission offers already reflecting, while others are seeing different statuses and wondering what they mean.

Candidates have been advised to log in to CAPS and check their status as soon as possible, and to accept any admission offer that appears on their profile.

What the Different Statuses Are Being Interpreted As

According to information circulating among candidates, the status displayed on CAPS currently appears to fall into the following categories:

  • Admission offer showing: Candidates who see an admission offer on CAPS should check and accept it promptly.
  • "Processing": Candidates whose CAPS shows "Processing" are said to be part of the Supplementary Batch A, according to the information circulating. This interpretation has not yet been officially confirmed by the university.
  • "Not Admitted": Candidates who see "Not Admitted" are being advised to remain calm and wait for the official Supplementary Admission List (Batch A) to be released.

It is important to treat the "Processing means Batch A" explanation as unofficial guidance for now, as FUTO has not yet issued a statement confirming how each CAPS status maps to specific supplementary batches.

"Not Admitted" Does Not Mean the End

Candidates who see "Not Admitted" should not panic. Seeing "Not Admitted" on JAMB CAPS means JAMB has not offered you admission for your chosen institution or course at that moment, and it does not always mean you have permanently lost admission. Some candidates later receive admission after another batch is released, while others may need to change course, upload their O'Level result, or wait for supplementary admission.

Similarly, status labels such as "Admission in Progress" generally indicate that processing is still ongoing. An Admission in Progress status typically means the school has submitted a candidate's name but JAMB is still processing it.

Official FUTO Batch A List Not Yet Released

Candidates should note that, according to the update, the FUTO Supplementary Batch A Admission List has not yet been released. The university is expected to publish the complete list of all batches officially, and candidates have been urged not to draw conclusions or become anxious before then.

A school may publish an admission list before JAMB CAPS updates, which is one reason statuses on CAPS can look inconsistent while the process is still underway.

Earlier Notice on Department Changes

This development follows FUTO's earlier publication of a list of supplementary candidates required to change their departments on JAMB CAPS so they could be properly proposed to JAMB for admission. Candidates who were on that list and complied with the instruction are the most likely to see their admission status updating on CAPS first.

What Candidates Should Do Now

  1. Log in to JAMB CAPS and check your current admission status.
  2. If you have an admission offer, accept it promptly through the platform.
  3. If your status shows "Processing" or "Not Admitted," continue checking CAPS regularly, as statuses may change as more batches are processed.
  4. Check the official FUTO website for the supplementary admission list once it is released.
  5. Make sure the department on your CAPS profile matches what FUTO has communicated for you, especially if you were on the department change list.
  6. Avoid relying on rumours, unofficial screenshots, or individuals claiming to "guarantee" admission for a fee.

Stay Patient and Stay Informed

The supplementary admission exercise typically unfolds in stages, with different groups of candidates seeing updates at different times. Candidates are therefore encouraged to remain patient, rely on official channels, and avoid drawing conclusions from partial information.

Supplementary candidates are advised to check their JAMB CAPS profiles regularly, accept any offers that appear, and wait for FUTO to release the official Batch A list before drawing conclusions about their admission status.
