Newly admitted students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), for the 2026/2027 academic session have been advised to prepare the necessary documents ahead of their physical clearance and registration.

The university's published academic calendar indicates that new students will begin registration and payments on Wednesday, 11 November 2026. However, freshers should follow their departmental clearance schedules for the physical verification exercise.

Documents Required for Physical Clearance

Freshers should prepare both the originals and photocopies of the following documents.

1. JAMB Documents

  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • Original JAMB Result Slip

2. FUTO Admission and Clearance Documents

  • Candidate Profile Slip
  • FUTO Admission Letter
  • Confirmation of Admission Slip
  • Post-UTME Application Form

  • Form 1 – Signed Acceptance Letter
  • Form 2 – Undertaking Form
  • Form 3 – Student Information Form

4. O'Level and Personal Documents

  • O'Level Result (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB)
  • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration
  • Local Government Area (LGA) Identification Letter or Certificate

Online Clearance: Documents to Upload

In addition to physical clearance, some personal and admission documents are expected to be submitted electronically through the FUTO portal for verification.

The documents listed for online upload include:

  1. O'Level Result
  2. Reference Letter (Attestation Letter)
  3. LGA Identification Letter
  4. JAMB Admission Letter
  5. Birth Certificate

Freshers can begin preparing these documents for upload and verification through the university portal.

Important: Reference and attestation letters should be typed. Students are advised against uploading handwritten letters.

Physical Clearance and Departmental Timetable

Registration and payments for new students are scheduled to begin on 11 November 2026, according to the university's academic calendar.

However, this does not mean every fresh student must report for physical clearance on that particular day. A departmental timetable is expected to guide students on their respective clearance dates.

Freshers are therefore advised to wait for their departmental schedules before travelling to campus. There is no need to rush to FUTO on November 11 if their department has not been scheduled.

Direct Entry Candidates: Admission Update

Candidates who applied for admission into FUTO through Direct Entry are also advised to exercise patience.

Information circulating among applicants indicates that the Direct Entry admission list is expected alongside the Supplementary, JUPEB and Pre-Degree lists. Candidates should await official confirmation and monitor the university's admission portal for updates.
