The SIWES Unit, under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has released the official timetable for the LT (Viva) Defence for the 2025/2026 session.
The directive was contained in a memorandum dated October 5, 2026, addressed to all School Deans, with the subject "Scheduling of LT (Viva) Defence for 2025/2026 Session."
Defence Dates Fixed
According to the memo, the SIWES Unit has fixed the LT Viva defence to hold from Monday, 23rd November to Friday, 27th November 2026, during which SIWES-monitored IT Viva sessions will take place across the various schools.
The Unit also disclosed that it is mobilising its officers to be present throughout the exercise, to ensure strict compliance during the defence.

Below is the complete schedule as released by the SIWES Unit:
Students are advised to carefully check the date assigned to their respective school and level, as schedules vary across different days of the exercise.
Eligibility: Placement List and Clearance
The memo noted that the SIWES Unit is sending a Placement List containing the names of students who have fulfilled all SIWES requirements and are therefore eligible to take part in the defence.
Importantly, students whose names do not appear on the Placement List have been directed to visit the SIWES Unit to obtain a clearance form before they will be permitted to defend.
This means that eligibility for the defence is tied directly to whether a student's name appears on the official list, making it essential for all affected students to confirm their status ahead of the scheduled dates.
What Affected Students Should Do
Students expecting to participate in the SIWES LT Viva defence are advised to:
- Check whether their name appears on the official Placement List released by the SIWES Unit.
- If their name is missing from the list, visit the SIWES Unit immediately to obtain a clearance form before the scheduled defence date.
- Take proper note of the date assigned to their school and level, as outlined in the timetable above.
- Make adequate preparations ahead of their scheduled defence date, as strict compliance is expected to be enforced by SIWES officers present during the exercise.
Students are strongly advised to confirm their eligibility status early and prepare accordingly ahead of the scheduled SIWES IT Viva defence dates.
