The Students' Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has announced the release of the two students who were abducted from the institution earlier this week.
In an official statement issued by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, under the Office of the SUG PRO/DOI, the union confirmed that the victims have regained their freedom from their abductors and are now safe.

Victims Now Safe
The statement noted that the students had been in the custody of unknown persons before their release was secured. The SUG did not disclose further details on the circumstances surrounding their release.
The union extended appreciation to everyone who contributed to the efforts that led to the students' safe return, without naming specific individuals or agencies involved.
Students Urged to Stay Vigilant
Following the development, the SUG called on the entire student body to remain security-conscious and vigilant at all times.
Students were specifically advised to be mindful of their surroundings, avoid unnecessary late-night movements, and stay guided by all security advisories issued by the university and relevant authorities.
SUG Reaffirms Commitment to Student Safety
The update was signed by High Comr. RTR JC Journ. Kalagbor C. David, SUG PRO/DOI, with the office's contact line shared for students seeking further information.
Students have also been directed to join the official SUG communication channel for further updates on campus security matters.
FUTO SUG continues to monitor the security situation and will provide updates as necessary.
