The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri and Metropolitan of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, has paid a pastoral visit to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Chaplaincy (STACC) at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

The visit forms part of the Archbishop's pastoral engagements within the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, bringing him to the university's Catholic chaplaincy to interact with the university community and members of the chaplaincy.

Reception by University Management

The Archbishop was received on arrival by the Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Dozie, alongside members of the University Management team, reflecting the cordial relationship between the university administration and the chaplaincy community.

Archbishop's Message to the Chaplaincy

In his homily during the visit, Archbishop Ugorji commended STACC's commitment to the spiritual formation of students, describing it as an important pillar of student life within the university.

He specifically urged those involved in the spiritual formation of students to ensure that their lives speak louder than their words, encouraging them to lead by spiritual example, humility, and good conduct.

The Archbishop noted that students often learn more from the lives of their mentors than from what is spoken to them, emphasizing the importance of consistency between belief and practice among those responsible for guiding young people spiritually.
